Great Hill is on the flanks of Winter Hill. There's nothing particularly high about it, so I can't imagine how it gots its name, but it does afford fantastic views north towards the lake district and east towards Darwen and Blackburn. Darwen Tower is just visible, with the haze of Blackburn to the left of it.
